Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre

Located right on the shore of Hoan Kiem Lake, this is the premier venue for experiencing Vietnam's unique 1,000-year-old art form: water puppetry. Shows take place on a water stage. Puppeteers stand behind a bamboo screen, controlling wooden puppets using underwater rods and strings. Performances are accompanied by a live traditional folk orchestra (featuring monochord, flute, drums) and folk singing, depicting 17 traditional vignettes of rural life and folklore.
