About
Phu Quoc Island Prison, also known as Coconut Tree Prison, is a national special historical site in the southern part of Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province, Vietnam. It was originally built by French colonists in 1949 and was later expanded by the US military and the South Saigon regime during the Vietnam War, becoming the largest prisoner of war camp in South Vietnam at that time.
