Tour Overview
Stepping out of the fast-paced modern life, this special journey invites you into a world of skillful hands and ingenuity, where Vietnam’s cultural values are vividly inherited through every exquisite handicraft. We will take you to explore two very representative craft villages, representing the elegance of fragrance and the magnificence of color respectively. 1.
Guangfu Qiuxiang Village: Dance of Smoke and Incense
In this ancient village, you will not only be a witness, but also immersed in a charming space. Bunches of colorful incense sticks intertwined into a gorgeous picture in the sunlight. Please take a deep breath. The rich aroma of heavy agarwood, warm cinnamon, fragrant aniseed, etc. is the unique fragrance of Vietnam’s quiet mind and spiritual rituals. You will learn about the delicate and complicated processes from material selection, blending, rolling to drying. Don’t forget to use your lens to capture the mesmerizing scenery and the artistic work moments of the craftsmen. 2.
Discover the world of lacquerware: masterpieces of time and delicacy
Stepping into a lacquerware workshop, you step into a universe of absolute patience. Lacquerware art is not about seeking speed, but a journey. You will discover ancient techniques with your own eyes: from applying the first layer of black lacquer (taken from the sap of the sumac tree) to the wooden base, to the complex sanding and smoothing process, to the final exquisite painting, eggshell inlay, and gold and silver techniques. Every layer of paint, every scratch mark, is an investment of effort and passion, just to create a work that can endure for hundreds of years, shining with a quiet, warm, deep and restrained beauty. Special highlight of the trip: Encounter with the soul of craftsmanship
What makes this journey unique is not only the ability, but also the rare opportunity to be with. You will have time to speak directly with those who are real craftsmen. Listen to their stories, learn basic operating techniques, and feel their enthusiasm for inheriting traditional craftsmanship. This journey is a bridge to a deeper understanding of the enduring beauty and cultural value of these quintessential craft heritages, as well as the challenges faced in their transmission.
Make this journey a journey of the senses: see its beauty, smell its fragrance, touch its texture and listen to its story. What you take home will not only be photos, but also a deep appreciation for Vietnam’s golden hands and beautiful heart.
